For more than a decade Gena has been working with families across generations-adults, adolescents and children to assist them in meeting their goals of improved mental health.  She coordinates community services, networks and establishes firm relationships with psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, psychologists, speech therapists and occupational therapists.   She continues to develop an extensive network of professionals both as referral sources and for collaboration in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

For the past year, Gena has been working with military families and their children and military support staff throughout the state of Texas.  It has been a privilege to support these families and staff while family members are training and/or deployed.  Many of the issues military families face vary from non-military families.  This past year's experience has provided me with some of the knowledge I need to continue supporting military families in the civilian world.  My hope is that military families would receive the care and support they need.  I'd like to have the privilege of helping.

Gena has also worked with Texas public schools to help educate the Early Education and Special Needs teachers, student aides, and after-school support staff on best practices for working with children with special needs and how to support the families of these children with special needs.  As a college instructor, she was instrumental in educating nursing students, nurse practitioners, and vocational nurses in Human Growth and Development, and Psychological frameworks and motivators for families and children. She worked closely with the nursing program directors to encourage their students toward personal self-care and professional growth. In addition, she coordinated with the Program Directors and Academic Dean to ensure students received the appropriate educational and psychological support necessitated by their respective programs.

Gena has worked with corporate businesses during times of growth and and in times of down-sizing.  Gena’s corporate business focus is networking and collaboration among and between professionals of various fields, identifying resources and providing conflict management solutions to small to medium-sized business owners, and assisting in the growth and development of small to medium-sized businesses. As a troubleshooter with strong skills in identifying, brainstorming and cooperating with businesses as they grow, Gena has been an invaluable asset to these organizations. Her ability to view challenges from an unbiased perspective as well as each individual’s viewpoint helps to ensure client improvement and growth.  She has been actively involved in job placement and training of therapists, supervision of up-and-coming interns, and training of management and employees in Fortune 1000 companies in matters related to health and wellness.

Gena holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from Fresno Pacific University, Fresno, CA and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Counseling and Guidance graduating with honors from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.  For a complete resume of Gena Tidwell-Haley, visit her LinkedIn profile.
